- RS Privacy Policy
- Last updated: May 22, 2026
- This Privacy Policy explains how RS collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
- 1. Information We Collect

- Ride Data We store ride history including routes, distances, durations, and group participation to power analytics and leaderboard features.
- Communications Messages sent through group chat and direct messaging features are stored to deliver the service. We do not read private messages except as required by law.
- Device Information We collect device identifiers, operating system version, and push notification tokens to deliver notifications and improve app performance.
- 2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide, operate, and maintain the RS platform and all its features.
- Enable real-time group ride coordination, live map sharing, and SOS emergency alerts.
- Send push notifications for ride invitations, group activity, friend requests, and safety alerts.
- Process subscription payments and manage billing through our payment provider.
- Analyze usage patterns to improve app features and user experience.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
- 3. Information Sharing
- With Other Riders Your profile, ride stats, and location (during active rides you join) are visible to members of your ride groups. You control your visibility settings.
- Service Providers We share data with trusted third-party providers including Supabase (database & auth), Stripe (payments), Twilio (SMS alerts), and Resend (email) solely to operate our services.
- Legal Requirements We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
- No Sale of Data We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
- 4. Location Data
- Location access is only requested when you start or join a ride. You can revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings.
- Real-time location is shared only with members of your active ride group. Location data is not stored permanently after a ride ends — only aggregated route data is retained for ride history.
- SOS alerts share your location with your designated emergency contacts and, where applicable, emergency services.
- 5. Data Security
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
- We use Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to view.
- While we implement industry-standard security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password.
- 6. Children's Privacy
- RS is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
- 7. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & Correction You can view and update your profile information at any time through the app Profile and Settings screens.
- Data Deletion You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Some data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.
- Notifications You can manage push notification preferences through the Notification Preferences screen or your device settings.
- Location You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Note that this will limit ride coordination features.

- Location Data (Detailed Disclosure)
- Foreground only — used while the app is open
- RS uses your location only while the app is actively open and in use. We never track or access your location in the background — location access stops the moment you leave the app or lock your screen.
- Why location is used RS requests location access for two features, both of which operate only while the app is open:
- (1) Live Group Ride Tracking — During an active group ride, RS broadcasts each rider's GPS coordinates to all group members on a shared live map. This feature is active only while you have the app open on your screen. Location sharing stops automatically when you close or leave the app.
- (2) SOS Emergency Alerts — When a rider triggers an SOS, their current GPS coordinates are immediately sent to their registered emergency contacts. This requires the app to be open at the time the SOS is triggered.
- No background location tracking RS does not use background location. We do not track your location when the app is minimized, when your screen is locked, or when the app is closed. Location is only accessed while you are actively using the app.
- Group ride scenarios Members within a group may not start from the same location and may take alternate routes during a ride. Foreground location ensures every member remains visible on the shared map while the app is open. Riders who close the app or lock their screen will no longer broadcast their position until they return to the app.
- How your location data is stored Location data is stored securely in our database (Supabase) and is associated with your account. GPS waypoints recorded during a ride are retained as part of your ride history. You can delete your ride history at any time from your profile.
- Who can see your location Your real-time location is only visible to members of your active ride group while a ride is in progress and the app is open. Emergency contacts receive your location only when an SOS alert is triggered. Your location is never shared with advertisers, third-party analytics providers, or any other parties.
- How to stop location sharing Location sharing stops automatically when you end your ride or close the app. You can also revoke the location permission at any time in your device Settings → Apps → RS → Permissions → Location → select "Only while using the app" or "Deny".
- Data retention Real-time location data used for live tracking is not permanently stored beyond what is needed for ride history. Ride route waypoints are retained as part of your ride record until you delete them. You may request full data deletion by contacting us or using the Account Deletion feature in Settings.
- Notifications
- ACCESS_NOTIFICATIONS — Required for SOS emergency alerts
- RS uses ACCESS_NOTIFICATIONS to send SOS emergency alerts to your registered emergency contacts. This is a critical feature for safety. Without this permission, the SOS system cannot function inside the Live Map Screen. Your device SOS feature is not impacted.
- Why notifications are used RS requests ACCESS_NOTIFICATIONS for one critical feature:
- (1) SOS Emergency Alerts — When a rider triggers an SOS, the rider's GPS coordinates are immediately dispatched to their registered emergency contacts. This alert is only reliable if location access continues in the background while using the "Live Map". Without ACCESS_NOTIFICATIONS, the SOS system cannot send alerts.
- How your notifications are stored Notification data is stored securely in our database (Supabase) and is associated with your account. You can manage your notification settings from your profile.
- Who can see your notifications Your notifications are visible to members of your active ride group while a ride is in progress. Emergency contacts receive your notifications when an SOS alert is triggered. Your notifications are never shared with advertisers, third-party analytics providers, or any other parties.
- How to stop receiving notifications You can stop receiving notifications at any time by revoking the notification permission in your device Settings → Apps → RS → Permissions → Notifications → select "Only while using the app" or "Deny".
- Data retention Notification data is not permanently stored beyond what is needed for the current session. You can manage your notification history from your profile.
- Route Recording
- GPS waypoints saved as part of your ride history
- RS records your GPS route during an active group ride and saves it as part of your personal ride history. Route data is only recorded while the app is open and a ride is in progress. You can view, share, or delete your ride history at any time from your profile.
- What is recorded During an active ride, RS captures GPS waypoints at regular intervals to build a route map. This data includes latitude, longitude, speed, and timestamp for each waypoint. Route data is linked to your account and stored securely in our database (Supabase).
- Why route data is collected Route recording enables the post-ride summary feature, which shows your ride path on a map, total distance, duration, and performance stats. It also powers the Ride History section of your profile so you can revisit past rides.
- Who can see your route Your route data is private by default. It is visible only to you in your ride history. Group ride routes may be visible to other members of the same ride group during the active ride session. Route data is never shared with advertisers or third parties.
- How to delete route data You can delete individual rides from your ride history in your profile. To delete all ride data, use the Account Deletion feature in Settings or contact us at privacy@rs.app.
- Data retention Route waypoints are retained as part of your ride record until you delete them. If you delete your account, all route data is permanently removed within 30 days.
- Video & Camera Recording
- Camera access used for profile photos and ride moment captures
- RS requests camera access to let you capture ride moment photos and record short video clips for your profile and the community video feed. Camera access is only used when you actively choose to take a photo or record a video inside the app. RS does not record video or access your camera in the background.
- What camera is used for Camera access is used for three features:
- (1) Profile Photo — You can take a selfie or upload a photo from your gallery to set your profile picture.
- (2) Ride Moments Capture — During or after a ride, you can capture photos or short video clips to share as ride moments in the community feed.
- (3) MotoVlog Reel — You can record or upload short video clips to your personal MotoVlog reel on your profile.
- How video data is stored Photos and videos you upload are stored securely in our cloud storage (Supabase Storage). They are associated with your account and visible according to your profile visibility settings. Videos shared to the community feed are visible to other RS members.
- No background recording RS never accesses your camera or microphone in the background. Camera and microphone access is only active when you are inside a recording or capture screen within the app.
- How to remove your videos You can delete any photo or video from your profile or ride moments at any time. Deleted media is removed from our servers within 30 days. Deleting your account removes all associated media.
- Country Flags & Location Display
- Your country flag is shown on your public profile
- RS displays a country flag on member profiles and in the community marquee to celebrate the global diversity of our riding community. Your country is derived from the country you select in your profile settings — not from your GPS location. You can change or remove your country flag at any time.
- What data is used The country flag shown on your profile is based on the country field you set in your Profile Settings. This is a voluntary field — you choose whether to display a country flag. RS does not automatically detect or assign your country from your IP address or GPS location.
- Where your flag is displayed Your country flag appears on your public profile card, in the Members directory, and in the community country flags marquee on the Home screen. It is visible to all RS members.
- How to change or remove your flag You can update or remove your country at any time from Profile Settings → Edit Profile → Country. Removing the country field will remove your flag from all displays.
- Consent & Permission Logging
- We record when you accept or decline permission disclosures
- RS logs your acceptance or decline of permission disclosures (Location, Notifications, Video & Camera, Route Recording) for legal compliance and audit purposes. These logs record the action taken, the timestamp, your platform (iOS/Android/Web), and your user ID if you are signed in. Consent logs are stored securely and are never shared with third parties.
- What is logged When you interact with a permission disclosure dialog in the app — such as the onboarding Permissions & Privacy screen or the Prominent Disclosure dialog — RS records:
- The type of consent (e.g., location, notifications, video, route recording)
- Whether you accepted or declined
- The date and time (UTC)
- Your platform (iOS, Android, or Web)
- Your user ID (if you are signed in at the time)
- Why consent is logged Consent logging is required for legal compliance under applicable privacy regulations (including GDPR and CCPA). These records allow RS to demonstrate that users were properly informed about data collection practices and had the opportunity to accept or decline before any data collection began.
- Who can access consent logs Consent logs are stored in a secure, access-controlled database. Only you can read your own consent records. RS administrators with compliance roles can read all records for audit purposes. Consent logs are never shared with advertisers or third parties.
- Data retention Consent logs are retained for the duration of your account to support compliance audits. If you delete your account, your consent logs are permanently removed within 30 days.
- Device Settings Access
- The app can open your device's native settings screen
- RS provides a "Device Settings" shortcut in the RS Navigator that opens your device's native app settings screen. This is a convenience feature — tapping it takes you directly to the RS app settings on your device, where you can enable or disable Location and Notification permissions without navigating through your phone's settings manually. RS does not read, modify, or access any device settings directly.
- What this feature does Tapping the Device Settings card in the RS Navigator launches your device's built-in app settings screen for RS (iOS: Settings → RS; Android: Settings → Apps → RS). From there, you can manage Location and Notification permissions at the OS level.
- What RS cannot access RS cannot read your current permission states, modify your device settings, or access any other device configuration. The app simply opens the settings screen — all changes are made by you, directly in your device's operating system.
- Why this shortcut exists Many users find it difficult to locate app permission settings on their device. This shortcut is provided purely for your convenience so you can quickly enable or disable Location and Notifications for RS without leaving the app experience.
